Eden Alene is an Ethiopian-Israeli singer. She auditioned for Season 3 of The X Factor Israel and made it all the way to the final as part of the Teens category mentored by Ivri Lider.

Due to the eliminations of Oriane Recchia, Eliraz Zaada and Yam Refaeli, Alene was the only act left in her category. She was crowned the winner defeating Guy Yahood from the Boys category mentored by Moshe Peretz.

In 2019-20, she partook in the last series of rival show Rising Star, whose winner won the right to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest, and won the show, with her song chosen in a separate one the following month. However, the contest was cancelled due to the COVID 19 pandemic. The first song with which she won was called Feker Libi (lit: My love), a title in Amharic, and with lyrics in English, Hebrew, Arabic, Amharic and constructed languages, and written by Doron Medalie, known for helping Netta to win the contest 2 years earlier. When the contest was cancelled, she was immediately given to right to represent Israel in 2021, won a new selection with a song called Set Me Free, qualified for the final, and placed 17th.

Trivia

• In both iterations of Eurovision, she competed against Victoria Georgieva, Destiny Chukunyere and Tornike Kipiani (though she didnt compete directly against Kipiani), from X Factor series in X Factor Bulgaria, X Factor Malta (Season 2)and X Factor Georgia respectively. In the cancelled 2020 iteration, the 4 acts would have competed against X Factor UK Series 15 auditionee Athena Manoukian, whilst in 2021, they were beaten by Maneskin from X Factor Italy Series 11.
