Brendan Murray is an Irish plumber from Tuam, Co. Galway who competed in Series 15 of The X Factor as part of the Boys category mentored by Louis Tomlinson.
He was eliminated on the first night of the semi finals in a double elimination after receiving the fewest public votes, finishing in 5th place.
He auditioned for Series 8 of Britain's Got Talent as part of Hometown and the band reached the second round, however their audition was never televised. After they advanced it emerged that Hometown had been created Louis Walsh, leading to claims that the band had been 'fast-tracked' through the audition process, and that they would have advanced regardless of their performance.
He is formerly a member of the Irish band Hometown, who scored two #1 singles in their homeland and were managed by Louis Walsh.
After Hometown split he was the country's representative at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest in Kiev, where he failed to qualify for the final.
He was one of 4 non-UK Eurovision related acts in that series of X Factor, along with Athena Manoukian (attempted to represent Greece at junior level, won the right to represent Armenia at regular level), Cezar Ouatu (represented Romania) and Gaia Cauchi (Junior winner, Malta), who was put into Sweet Sense, but was the only one of the quartet to make the live shows.
